2 Antique STERLING SILVER SPOONS London Rifle Brigade

Up for auction is this pair of antique sterling silver spoons from Great Britain. The top of the handle holds the ornate crest of the London Rifle Brigade with their motto below: Ich dien (German for I Serve) and Primus in Urbe (Latin for First in the City). The following hallmarks appear on the back: CBS (Makers Mark for Cooper Brothers Sons); crown (Sheffield); lion passant (.926 sterling); the letter r (date mark for 1909). The spoons approx. 5 1/16" in length and 1 1/8" across the bowl. These are in very good condition for their age. We provided supersized photos so you can best determine condition.
The London Rifle Brigade (LRB) began life in 1859 as a Volunteer Rifle Corps with the title London Rifle Volunteer Brigade and the motto "Primus in Urbe". It was a sore point that when the London Regiment was formed in 1908 as part of the new Territorial Force, the four Royal Fusilier Volunteer battalions (also London battalions) were given precedence relegating the LRB to fifth place, despite ist motto: it became the 5th (City of London) Bn The London Regiment (London Rifle Brigade).

Packages under 4# can be shipped First Class International or Global Priority. Packages over 4" must ship Priority Mail International. Shipping quotes are available using the calculator below (select international destination.) PLEASE NOTE: First Class International packages are NOT insurable. We are happy to provide proof of shipment on request. Priority Mail International packages are insured up to $64 USD and additional insurance can be purchased if desired to cover full cost of item.
